The purpose of this wiki is to provide a space, a common ground, for teachers of combined grades to meet, share ideas, create, and hopefully collectively lighten each others' load.
Teaching a combined grade class is rewarding, but also a large undertaking as you try to manage what your Ministry of Education, or State authority, requires you to teach and what the students in your room actually need you to help them learn.
I am hoping that this wikispace will be populated by a large number of teachers, all willing to lend a voice, a few thoughts or ideas towards an end - that of making our teaching lives that much better by having excellent combined grade teaching ideas and materials easily available. Let's face it: the Ministry is not going to help us any time soon, my board - the Toronto District School Board - has no dedicated resources for combined grades (although our two science ILs and two social studies ILs are running excellent combined grade workshops). We're going to have to do this on our own.
Please join in the discussions. From these, we will decide on what we can do to help each other.
